The Great Punkin is the fifth episode of the first season of The Troop.

Synopsis[]

The Troop have to capture a myriad of escaped monsters on Halloween night after Jake accidentally breaks down the security system with a microwave.

Plot[]

The episode begins with Hayley explaining to Jake how the universal translator works and test it on the Danker, all goes well until suddenly the HQ to goes dark from a power outage and all the captive monsters escape from their cells.

After recapturing all the monsters, Mr. Stockley informs them that the monstropental regulator broke and caused the system to overload the security system, and gives them other things he found. Stockly says he jury rigged it to make it hold until it's repaired. Hayley calls Troop International to see if they can help and Dr. Brandenburg is put on the call, but Mr. Stockley just wishes him a happy Halloween and hangs up. Due to too many requests from Troop International, Mr. Stockley says he will take care of it but will need one of them to stay while he gets the parts. Jake says Hayley should do it but she guilt trips him by telling him about the haunted house she was working on for charity. He then says Felix should do it, but he refuses due to a Gibbering Troolis costume he was working on at the start of January 1st. Jake tries to explain why he shouldn't stay but that doesn't work so he agrees. Jake then goes to the Danker and it starts to sing, much to Jakes annoyance.

Some time later at Hayley's Haunted house, Hayley is giving out candy to the kids and encounters Phoebe. She asks about how the haunted house was, only to be told that it was fine and wasn't scared. This annoys Hayley so she and her decide to walk through the haunted house together.

Meanwhile, Mr. Stockley is in his car listening to the radio and switching to a station telling scary stories. Mr. Stockley accepts the challenge and it plays haunting music, startling him.

Back in the troop HQ, the Danker is still singing while Jake is messing with screws with a magnet. Jake decides to take a lunch break and uses a microwave to warm up a corn dog, this causes the HQ to have another power outage releasing all the captive monsters. Jake runs to the cell room only to find that the monsters have escaped but a Tail Monster. Jake tries to make sure it doesn't escape by holding it, only for the tail to detach from the monster's body, and the tail escapes.

Back at Hayley's haunted house, Phoebe is still walking through the haunted house and Hayley tries to scare her with an ogre mask but that doesn't work, annoying Hayley. Hayley gets called by Jake informing her that all the monsters have escaped troop HQ and tells her to keep Phoebe safe and meet up with him. Hayley puts Phoebe in a room with Mrs. Vanderveen and they listen to the radio. It then cuts to Mr Stockley is still listening to the radio telling scary stories, clearly afraid.

Felix (In his Gibbering Troolis Costume) is being applauded by kids from his costume and the kids go off for candy. Felix is about to go with them, until a real Gibbering Troolis approaches him, but Felix thinks it is just someone else in another Gibbering Troolis Costume. Jake and Hayley start to look for the monsters and Hayley asks Jake what Mr. Stockly said when he told him, but with Jake not responding back she knows he didn't tell Mr. Stockly at all. Mr. Stockly, still listening to the radio telling scary stories obviously terrified, until suddenly a kid with a hook knocks on his car window, causing both of them to scream loudly. Felix and the Gibbering Troolis are walking by and it begins to lick his ear, much to Felix's annoyance. He then gets called by Jake informing him that all the monsters have escaped troop HQ and tells him to help them catch all the monsters. The Gibbering Troolis keeps licking Felix's ear and Jake asks for what's going on and tells him that there is another person in a Gibbering Troolis costume. Jake questions there being another person in a Gibbering Troolis costume and Felix realizes that he is in fact near a real Gibbering Troolis and begins to run away, being chased by the real Gibbering Troolis. Hayley lets Felix know that it won't eat him, which calms him down, but tells him it was doing it's mating call, meaning that it is in love with him, which causes Felix to continue running away.

Hayley tells Felix to lead back to the HQ, but Jake says that he should go to the haunted house since it was closer so they can gather all the escaped monsters. At first Hayley doesn't agree with the plan but Felix informs hers that another haunted house is out doing hers, so they all agree. Hayley tries to tell the kids to leave by telling them monsters are coming but since it's Halloween they don't think it's real monsters. She then says they are out of cider and cookies, which convinces them to leave. Felix arrives and Jake tells him to go lure it into the basement and "Keep it Interested". It cuts back to Mrs. Vanderveen finished explaining to Phoebe her recipe of rye crackers, and she is about to tell her wheat crackers recipe but Phoebe leaves.

Back at the haunted house, Jake tells who he thinks his Felix to "Just shake your bootie" only to find out that was Mr. Stockly telling him that he has acquired the stuff he needs and is on his way back to HQ. Meanwhile, Felix's dancing causes the Gibbering Troolis to begin roaring, attracting other monsters in the process. Hayley and Jake start to catch the escaped monsters, except for the Ratadon. The Gibbering Troolis begins to tear Felix's costume and Jake tells him the plan is going well. Phoebe comes back and the Ratadon arrives, but she thinks it's Felix in a costume. Phoebe asks for some candy and the Ratadon just roars at her. Hayley tells Jake that they need to keep the Ratadon and the Troolis away from each other, so Jake tries to get Phoebe away from the Ratadon so he tries to give her a bucket of candy, only for the Ratadon to take it and run off and Phoebe follows. Hayley tells Felix to take off his costume, but the Troolis has already destroyed it. Felix escapes and the Ratadon enters the basement with the Gibbering Troolis, with Phoebe following for the candy. She grabs the bucket and the door shuts itself, locking them in the basement. Jake uses the magnet from earlier to take the hinges off the door and kicks it open, and sees that the Troolis and Ratadon have tired themselves out. Phoebe then tells Hayley that this was the best haunted house ever.

Back at the HQ, Jake, Hayley, and Felix put the last monster back into it's cage. Mr. Stockly arrives back with the equipment and allen wrenches for them. Hayley as Mr. Stockly if they are going to tell Troop International about the security failure but he just tells them that "The less your superiors know, the better" with Hayley agreeing with that. The Danker tries to tell Stockly what happened but Felix quickly turns off the universal translator, cutting it off before it tells him, ending the episode.

Quotes[]

Errors[]

  • Jake and Hayley could not have caught several of the escaped monsters with the net:
    • In the case of the Basilisk, that would have been quite risky, since it could have turned both of them into stone with its glaze.
    • The Mongolian Death Worm and Repticore would be too big to catch with a net.
    • The Fire Salamander would have exploded immediately if it was caught incorrectly with the net.

Trivia[]

  • This is the first episode to have the intro change for a holiday special.
